Song of the Day: NYC Bitche$ by Awkwafina

We fell in love with Awkwafina almost immediately after the release of her single “NYC Bitche$” in March of 2013, and so it is today’s Song of the Day. The rapper includes fantastic lyrics about New York City and brings up some salient points about the cultures in certain boroughs. Also, the song is just funny.

Favorite thing we learned from this song: Loosies — or single, loose cigarettes often sold out of bodegas. It must be an East Coast thing,

Cleveland, OH: Memorial Day 2014

Our Blonde Rebellion team took a trip out to Cleveland, Ohio, to celebrate Memorial Day this year, and what a wonderful trip it was!

We spent our first night out at the bar, Scoreboards, in Northfield Park, OH. The bar is a bit of a dive, but quite spacious and with a great back patio to hang out on on beautiful nights. Also, inside the bar, patrons can play corn-hole and other bar games like pool and darts. Scoreboards also serves food quite late,

New York City Skyline

What a beautiful sunset! We’re taking the weekend off for the most part, but we wanted to share this beautiful picture taken of the New York City skyline from Bushwick in Brooklyn.

We attended a rooftop birthday party in Bushwick last weekend and the views were amazing. It really is the best perk about living outside of Manhattan — the view is unlike any other.

If you’re looking for other places to see gorgeous views we recommend checking out the Brooklyn Heights Promenade for some awesome views.

24-year-old Rhett was born in Valdosta, Georgia, and began his career writing music for some of Jason Aldean’s albums, including “I Ain’t Ready to Quit.”

Let’s be honest–we’ve all had one of those mornings where we board the subway a tad hungover because we were out the night before and now all we have to look forward to is the glorious feeling of a seat on our way to work.

BUT THEN the only open seat is partially blocked by the over-sized man with his legs spread-eagle across two seats! Bastard!

The whole ride to work you lament over that wasted space because of course that man was impolite enough not to offer up the space next to him by simply closing his goddamned legs!

Book Review: Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

We recently started in on Richelle Mead’s spin-off series, Bloodlines, which follows with up her Vampire Academy series character Sydney Sage, the Alchemist who assists Rose in Russia while she is looking for her Strigoi-turned lover Dimitri.

Upon first meeting Sage in Vampire Academy, we found her to be an intriguing, if somewhat uptight, character who showed a lot of in-depth knowledge on vampires, despite her closed-mindedness. In Bloodlines we learn Sydney’s viewpoints and perceptions are shaped by the deep-set views of her family and the Alchemist community and we get to see her grow into a more open-minded person,
