Cleveland, OH: Memorial Day 2014

Our Blonde Rebellion team took a trip out to Cleveland, Ohio, to celebrate Memorial Day this year, and what a wonderful trip it was!

We spent our first night out at the bar, Scoreboards, in Northfield Park, OH. The bar is a bit of a dive, but quite spacious and with a great back patio to hang out on on beautiful nights. Also, inside the bar, patrons can play corn-hole and other bar games like pool and darts. Scoreboards also serves food quite late, so if you’ve got the late night munchies it is a wonderful place to check out!

Our second night in the Cleveland area, we attended a comedy show at the Hard Rock “Rocksino.” The Rocksino is a Hard Rock casino, music venue and comedy venue all rolled into one, and it is also alongside a horse racing track. It is quite the interesting venue. We saw Don DC Curry‘s show — you know him as the crazy uncle from Next Fridayand Friday After Next — and it was not our favorite, to say the least.

That same evening, we had a campfire at one of our local friends’ house and made s’mores and even camped out in a tent! The weather was beautiful and we woke to the sounds of squirrels and birds chirping and a few deer playing in the backyard with their new little fawns.

Our last day in the Cleveland area was also action-packed; we attended an Akron Rubberducks minor league baseball game versus the Fightin Phils, to whom Akron sadly lost. To entertain ourselves during the game we decided to mix up some Yuengling Summer Wheat beer with Minute Maid frozen lemonade to create a delicious, homemade shandy of sorts. We were thrilled with the results.

To end our trip in Cleveland, we drove through downtown Cleveland right to the edge of Lake Erie and had dinner at Shooters where there was a great balcony right on the lake. Boats out on the water can glide right on up to the edge of the restaurant/bar and talk with customers and patrons and enjoy the scenery. We saw a number of yachts alongside the restaurant where people were drinking and having a good time. The scene at Shooters was also very interesting  — perhaps in part due to the fact that most everyone had Monday off — but many of the women were ‘dressed for the club’ and we even saw a few curling their hair in the restroom. The crowd was quite young, and so we had a great time hanging out at the bar.

Overall, Ohio was wonderful!
