Book Review: Option B by Sheryl Sandberg & Adam Grant

Book: Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy
Authors: Sheryl Sandberg & Adam Grant

We read Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant shortly after its publication this April 2017. The Penguin Random House book, published under its Alfred K. Knopf imprint, was riveting to say the least. Sheryl bravely goes into detail about the harrowing moments of her late husband’s passing and the months of sorrow that followed for both her and her family.

As Facebook’s COO, Sandberg has set the bar for women in the corporate space with her book Lean In that encouraged women to take their seat at the table. Adam Grant, a renowned professor at the Wharton School of Business, and author of two other bestsellers (Originals, Give and Take) has proven an expert on motivation and creativity.

Paired together, these two are able to provide a personalized and resonant discussion of how people can overcome adversity by building resilience in both themselves and their children. With actionable insights and tips on healthy grieving or dealing with life’s many other setbacks, Option B is a great read for everyone, regardless of their circumstance. Since life can change on a dime, it is important to be prepared for its curveballs.
